In Loving Memory of Lai Manh Hung

Hung (right) with me and Bania.

Last Friday, a really good worker of mine passed away after being hit and rob by a group of drug addict. The tragic incident happened the night before. He was walking alone around this area, carrying nothing (no money, hp). I guess that's why those robbers hit him with a helmet a few times (I knew it from the post mortem results that the hospital sent yesterday). He was accused of being drunk by one of the staff here but there's no proof that he took alchohol before. I were never ashamed to say that yes, I'm working with foreigners and I have a different perception towards them. I was furious as nobody called any management about the matter, left Hung in pain. Tragically, his roomate found him dead the next morning, in a position that looks like he's in pain the whole night. I can still remember when I touched him, he was so cold...We managed to call his parents but they cannot accept the fact their son is not in this world anymore, the fact that he was their only child.

Here'a a bit of story about Hung!

Hung was a really nice, independent soft spoken guy who came to Malaysia a year ago. Despite being a foreigner, he always mentioned to me that he always felt that he was not accepted among local people here. Thankfully, he's not alone as there's a group of 14 vietnamese here. At least he's not alone but I was wrong. Hung tend to be quite a silent type and he does not mingle a lot, making him a loner.

A week before his death, a colleugue of mine, Rus said that he noticed Hung was very quite and said that he misses his mom so much. He said that he wanted to go back but not enough money. He even told our QC that he might not be working in that area anymore. Guess that he already knew about it. I was so regretted that I didn't talked to him when he needs a friend the most. sob sob sob

The last time I managed to talk to him was when he came to me and said that he didn't ate for 3 days and cannot continued work. I then brought him to the nearest mamak stall and belanja him some food. I still remember how gelojoh he was eating. He showed me his wife and son pictures in Vietnam and said that he missed them a lot. The thing is that, he lost his wife and son a year ago during a car accident. I can see his eyes was watery but I didn't futher the conversation.

Hung, I hope that you're dreams have come true no matter where you are. We will always miss you, Hung!
