Just bought Anuar Zain’s self titled album waktu pusing2 around the mall. I’m not his die hard fan okay but I think locally, he’s one of the best male singer around with such a powerful vocal. But sometimes, I think he over ad lib the song. Here's what I think about the album:
1. I’m the lucky one
~ The song started off slowly and smoothly and as the melody swings, the songs warm up a bit and began to attract my hearing. Can be one of the hit but you will have to listen for a few times to like it.
2. Ketulusan Hati
~ Brilliant is what I can say about this song! The melody reminds me of Michael Jackson’s, “Earth Song” a little but with Anuar’s soulful way.
~ You won’t hear any guitar or drums thrown in the music, just lots and lots of orchestration which is rare and for that alone, I am grateful as it’s my favorite in the album.
3. Tinggalkan Aku
~ An ear candy when you feel blue. But not as catchy as the previous tracks. Actually, I was a bit disappointed because somehow, the song doesn’t even fulfill the climax I was looking for. A bit boring for my liking.
4. Kau Bunga Cintaku
~ Come on, you can do better than that! Just typical pop malay song from Anuar. Sorry, but not my favourite.
5. Tak Lelah
~ This song will take you down memory lane if you hear it with you eyes shut closely. Not the type if you caught in traffic jam and looking for a catchy tune. You’ll definitely change to another track.
6. Lelaki Ini
~ It was love at first sight when I first heard the song on radio. I even downloaded the mp3 in the net. Guess the reason I bought the album because of this song. Hmm…totally written and composed by Indonesian musician (hope that local producer can come out with something like this for our local male singer).
7. Hanya Milikmu
~ I couldn’t agree more if someone say that this song reminisce Toni Braxton’s, Spanish Guitar – no surprise there. The song by Nico Ajie Bandy is something you should check out when you buy the album.
8. Bidadari
~ The music was orchestrated in Beijing, China (jauhnya…..) and was recorded in Malaysia. I love how they arrange the music but the melody just makes me want to skip the track. Sorry, but not a favourite too.
9. Jangan Pernah Lagi
~ Another pop song from Anuar. I don’t know but I think Anuar should stick to ballads cause this guy can’t sing pop without sound cheesy.
10. Teman Terulung
~ If you cannot sleep or diagnosed with Insomnia, just listen to this song and you’ll be asleep in no time.
Verdict: Overall, it’s an okay/average try from Anuar. I think his previous albums sounds better than this one. But salute for at least trying to be different but producing sound with lots of orchestration. Very classy (but I like the CD sleeve though). At least he looks matured than before..hehe. Buy it if you’re a fan. Will you regret it? It depends. Me? Boleh-la, is all I can say.
P/S: My best friend said that this is the best from Anuar so far. Anyway, you decide!
